In anticipation for our visit by the 'Get wise'superhero, we opened a shop in class. There was a cash register, lots of food to buy and sell, and money to exchange. The words we used to describe the money were things like:
more, less, notes, coins, dollars, cents, buy, sell, spend and save.
Then we had our 'Get wise' superhero from ASB come to visit and tell us about the importance of saving our money, and about the different between a need and a want. We also got to see big pictures of notes and coins and realised they were different colours, shapes, and were worth different amounts.
