We have been learning all about fractions during maths- we have mostly learnt about halves, thirds, fourths/quarters and fifths. Here we are having our playdough pizza fractions party to celebrate the end of the unit.
In supporting this at home, try to use words such as fair, equal, shares, same, amount, and also show the symbols for fractions where possible.
Food is a great resource to teach fractions. Asking your child to help bake a cake, slice a pizza, dish out ice cream, break up a chocolate bar, cut a piece of fruit, pour a drink, etc are perfect opportunities to bring in talk about fractions.
