Road safety

For the next 2 weeks we will be talking about being safe near the road, in particular looking at:

- 'sneaky' driveways (where the view of the driveway is obscured by a fence, hedge, etc)
- walking on the house side of the footpath rather than the road side
- crossing at a pedestrian crossing and traffic light crossing safely
- identifying when a car is moving- ie. brake/reverse/indicator lights, engine noise
- safe walking practices in carparks (walking feet, holding hands with an adult, going around front of cars rather than the back)

You can help at home by asking your child about this topic and reinforcing these messages when you are out and about near the road and in carparks.
