Using technology to answer our questions

When we were trying to sort animals into groups after our zoo trip, we realised we had some questions that needed answering before we could sort them out. A small group of children used the ipads to search for information- typing our questions into Google to find an answer. They did a great job of typing the questions and reading out the answers. This work will continue on this week.

You can help your child at home by:
- letting them type up a story (Google docs is a free service that lets you create documents online)
- coming up with some questions to answer together
- looking up their favourite animal on Google or Youtube and learning some facts about it

Typing is a skill which is very different from writing with a pen and pencil- for a start, your child will be used to writing in lower case letters so it will be a challenge to look up the capital letters on the keypad. Knowing which articles to click on will also be tricky and they will need your help with this.
